Nestled in the eastern part of the Darjeeling district, Namring Tea Estate is one of the oldest and second-largest tea estates in Darjeeling, renowned for its exceptional teas and historical significance. Just an hour’s drive from Darjeeling town and approximately two hours from Bagdogra Airport, the estate is a landmark in India’s premium tea-producing landscape.

Inside Namring Tea Estate

Namring is divided into three distinct sections — Namring, Poomong, and Jinglam and is equipped with comprehensive infrastructure, including its own power house, ropeway, hospital, and a large tea factory. The estate also fosters a vibrant community, with a school (Jankalayani), playground (Cricket Maidan), library (Ramita Pustakalaya), and spiritual landmarks like Shivji Mandir and Jalpa Devi Davithan.

Covering nearly 450 hectares of plantation area, Namring Tea Estate features a unique mix of tea bushes: 60% China, 30% Clonal, and 10% Assam hybrid. This diverse cultivar blend results in exquisite flavor profiles and complex aromas, making Namring teas highly sought after by connoisseurs worldwide. About 75% of the estate is self-irrigated, supporting consistent quality and growth across seasons.

The estate’s tea factory, located at an altitude of 3,000 ft, processes approximately 1,200 metric tons of green leaf annually, yielding around 300 metric tons of finished Darjeeling tea. While rooted in tradition, the factory continues to adopt modern technologies, ensuring the perfect harmony of heritage and innovation in every batch.

Namring Tea Estate is not just known for its scale, it is celebrated for producing high-quality Darjeeling teas that reflect the rich terroir and craftsmanship of the region.
